About

Dan McCool “If there is nothing to see, yet you see it – that is poetry. If there is something to see and everybody sees it – that is observation. But if you can make something out of nothing and make everybody see it – that is poetry in photography.” ~ Ernst Haas~

Dan’s art has been exhibited in numerous galleries and shows throughout the Pacific Northwest. He has studied with such noted photographers as the late Galen Rowell, David Middleton, Dennis Darling, and Craig Tanner. Dan has been creating photographic images worldwide for over thirty years and his work is in collections in the US and Europe. He is also the owner of Cool Breeze Photography in Richland, WA.

“For me, being an artist means being concerned with feeling life deeply. It is the place I am always striving to exist in as a creative person. This is true vision – when you see with more than your eyes. This is where I find my voice as an artist.

I am fascinated by the energy I sense within the forms I am photographing. Using a variety of techniques, I experiment with ways to express this presence more tangibly. My mission is to take a fresh look at the world around me and translate my experiences and vision into photographic works of art. By capturing recognizable subjects in unfamiliar surroundings, bathed in unusual light, or seen from a unique point of view, I strive to create visual poetry.

I am filled with immense gratitude for all the people and experiences that I have in my life. I feel illuminated by their energy, and I want to create more of what I love with each step of my journey. The images that I share represent my search for that radiant part of my being.”
